On Wednesday, during the third day of the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago, a speaker at the Black Caucus event made a revealing statement that has caught the attention of political observers.
Rev. Mark Thompson, who hosted the Black Caucus panel, urged attendees to maintain a controlled demeanor until the upcoming election, sparking discussion and criticism, particularly from the Trump campaign.
Rev. Thompson, known for his role as the host of the “Make it Plain” podcast, addressed the audience with a directive to stay composed in the weeks leading up to the election. “We got 70 days to act right, y’all. Now, after 70 days, we can go back to acting crazy, right?” Thompson remarked during the event.

His comments appeared to suggest that supporters should avoid any actions that could potentially harm the Democratic Party’s prospects until after the election.
When someone off-camera referenced the DNC chant “We’re not going back,” Thompson humorously responded, “I hope not, but for those who got to, just wait 70 days to go back, please. Be good.”

This statement did not go unnoticed, particularly by the Trump campaign, which highlighted Thompson’s remarks as an example of Democrats revealing their true intentions.

The phrase “saying the quiet part out loud” has been used by critics to describe moments when political figures inadvertently expose their underlying strategies or beliefs.
Thompson, who has been associated with controversial Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, has previously faced scrutiny for his ties to Farrakhan, a figure known for making derogatory comments about Jewish people and Israel.

Despite this, Thompson continues to play a prominent role in political activism, particularly within the African American community.
During the Black Caucus event, he emphasized the importance of Black men remaining vigilant and informed, particularly in the face of what he described as targeted disinformation and efforts to create division within the community.
“We know we are the most targeted on social media for disinformation and misinformation. A lot of confusion, and there’s a thing going on deliberately to pit Black men against Black women and vice versa,” Thompson stated. He then posed a question to the panel, asking what steps they were taking to inform, educate, organize, and mobilize Black men ahead of the election.
As the DNC convention continued, other notable speakers, including Bill Clinton, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, were scheduled to address the attendees.
The convention, however, was not without controversy. On Tuesday night, chaos erupted as protestors clashed with police outside the event, further intensifying the already charged atmosphere surrounding the convention.

Meanwhile, Kamala Harris, who replaced Joe Biden on the ballot last month, has not held a press conference or conducted an interview since the switch.
This lack of visibility has led to speculation and criticism from opponents, who argue that the Democrats are strategically keeping Harris under wraps until after the election.
