A former Obama intern and lifelong Democrat who voted for Joe Biden in 2020 has unleashed a fierce critique of the Democratic Party in a video that has conservatives nodding in agreement.
The woman, identified as Evan, took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express her profound disillusionment with the party after volunteering at the Democratic National Convention (DNC).
What she found there shattered any remaining faith she had in the Democratic establishment, as reported by the Gateway Pundit.
Evan’s journey through progressive politics has been a long one. She’s worked for various Democratic candidates and organizations, believing that she was fighting for the people. But her experience at the DNC left her disgusted, leading her to leave early. In her video, she doesn’t hold back, saying, “It sickened me.”
She initially signed up to volunteer at the DNC with some hope, expecting to find renewed confidence in the party that once inspired her. Instead, she encountered a group of out-of-touch elites more interested in throwing a party than addressing the real issues facing Americans.
“I just got back from the DNC, where I signed up to volunteer. When I initially signed up, Joe Biden was still the nominee; it wasn’t yet Kamala Harris. I’ve worked in progressive politics for a long time,” Evan begins, setting the stage for her blistering critique.

Throughout her career, Evan has primarily been involved in campaign fundraising. She’s seen firsthand how candidates spend their days begging wealthy donors for money, rather than engaging with the average voter.
This system, she argues, is a betrayal of democracy, where the rich control the agenda, and the voices of ordinary Americans are drowned out. “We don’t actually live in a democracy; it’s just rich people calling the shots,” she states bluntly.
The DNC, according to Evan, was a prime example of the party’s disconnect. She describes the atmosphere as elitist and out of touch, with vague promises and empty platitudes replacing any substantive discussion on the economy or the struggles of everyday Americans.
Kamala Harris’s speech was the final straw for Evan. “When I was there listening to the speeches, I felt myself getting mad because I didn’t hear anything about the economy—definitely not in Kamala’s speech,” she lamented.
Evan’s frustration is palpable as she recalls the party’s shift away from its roots. She once believed the Democrats were the party of the people, fighting corporate power and standing up for the underdog. Now, she sees a party consumed by academia, affluence, and a disconnect from reality.
Her final words in the video are a stark admission: “I don’t think I can support Kamala Harris for president. I don’t even know if I can call myself a Democrat anymore.” Evan’s video is a powerful indictment of the Democratic Party from someone who once believed in its cause but has now been driven away by its failures.
