The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has made public the bodycam and surveillance footage from a dramatic encounter that unfolded on October 11, 2023, involving police and a suspect who led them on a multi-county pursuit that ended violently at a 7-Eleven in Castle Rock, Colorado.
Kyle Williamson, 33, the man at the center of the chaos, has been sentenced to 64 years in prison after pleading guilty to four counts of first-degree assault related to the incidents of that day.

Instead of complying, he initiated a dangerous chase that lasted for several hours, during which he fired at pursuing officers.
The pursuit came to a climactic halt when Williamson, driving a Chevy Silverado, crashed through the front windows of the 7-Eleven located at 80 Plum Creek Parkway.
Surveillance footage captured from inside the store shows a customer narrowly escaping injury by jumping away as the truck smashed into the front counter.
Bodycam footage released by the authorities shows the intense moments that followed. Deputies can be heard ordering Williamson to put down his weapon.
Instead of surrendering, Williamson opened fire on the officers, who returned fire, striking him multiple times. Miraculously, no officers were injured during the exchange.
Williamson, who was on parole at the time following a 2011 sentencing for attempted sexual assault and child abuse causing serious bodily injury, survived the injuries sustained in the shootout.
Also implicated in the day’s events was Williamson’s wife, Hannah Woolard, who was present in the truck during the chase.
She pleaded guilty to being an accessory to a crime and was sentenced on August 5 to three years in community corrections.
Sheriff Weekly commended the deputies for their bravery and professionalism in handling the situation. “Our deputies put their lives on the line to bring a violent criminal to justice,” he stated.
“This footage shows the reality of the dangers they face every day to protect our community, and I couldn’t be more proud of their dedication.” – Sheriff Weekly
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office thanked all agencies involved in the incident, including the Castle Rock Police Department, highlighting the collaborative effort required to manage such high-risk situations effectively.
