In a fervent critique delivered at The Trump Assassination Forum, former Secret Service agent and conservative commentator Dan Bongino condemned the Secret Service for what he described as a catastrophic failure in protecting President Trump during a speech at Mar-a-Lago.
Bongino’s scathing analysis highlighted outdated technology, poor resource allocation, and a misplaced focus on minor tasks, leading to a security breach of grave proportions.
“Let’s just get right to the point this was an apocalyptic security failure,” Bongino opened his statement, detailing the gravity of the incident where President Trump was shot, and three others were injured on live television.
“A man was murdered in front of his family. Three people were shot on live television, including President Trump and the head who came within two millimeters of having his head explode on national television in front of millions of people. It’s no sugar coating. It’s no time for BS.” – Dan Bongino

Bongino, who served 12 years with the Secret Service, expressed his respect for his former colleagues but didn’t shy away from critiquing the institution’s systemic flaws. “They have three institutional problems I believe in the macro will help us get to the bottom of how this secret service apocalyptic failure won’t happen again,” he explained.
He outlined the first major issue as a severe technology gap, noting, “The joke in the Secret Service, which is, sadly no longer funny when I was there and it wasn’t funny then either, is they rely on yesterday’s technology tomorrow… everything from computer systems at Waste agents times filling out time and attendance records they were doing to Congressman Crane and I discussing the fact that they only implemented slings, a technology as old as the wheel.”
Bongino also criticized the Secret Service’s budget management, arguing that despite increased funding, the agency had become less efficient. “There is no more with less. There’s less with less… A 20 year old criminal outsmarted them on a $40 drone technology, piece of device. You’re telling me that’s more with less, it’s disgusting.”
Finally, Bongino advocated for the Secret Service to divest from its investigative duties and focus solely on its primary mission: protection. “Turn it over to Mr. Prince, the investigative mission, the secret service that they’re telling you they need to make them better agents is total crap. That’s garbage… Get rid of the investigative mission, turn it over to other people, let them do what they do best and should do best. Protection.”
Dan Bongino’s impassioned speech underscored the urgent need for the Secret Service to modernize and prioritize its core responsibilities to prevent any future failures in safeguarding national leaders.
His call for reform was met with support and acknowledgment from other panelists and attendees at the forum.
