Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) recently engaged in an attack against Donald Trump’s incoming border czar, Tom Homan, questioning his ability to address the Biden-Harris administration’s border crisis.
Crockett, during a recent appearance, suggested that Homan, despite his extensive experience in immigration enforcement, lacked the competence to handle the issue of mass deportations and the broader border situation.
On Monday morning’s “Wake Up America” segment on Newsmax TV, Homan fired back at Crockett’s criticisms in a no-holds-barred response.

Crockett had accused Trump’s pick for the border czar of being out of his depth, saying, “Again, we have someone who does not know what he’s doing.”
She continued, “You have Trump that goes out there, him and his minions, who say things like ‘you know what, we’re only get rid of the bad ones,’ right? People sit there, and they’re like, ‘Wait a minute. You’re gonna come to my job where I’m working and paying into taxes or whatever? Or my kids are at school?’ I think there will be a rude awakening on all sides.”
Homan, undeterred by Crockett’s remarks, quickly shot back, saying, “Well, look, I forgot more about this issue than she’ll ever know. I mean, for God’s sakes, I’ve been doing it 34 years, but look, there has been a rude awakening. A rude awakening was in November at the election. There was a rude awakening that American people are sick of the open border. American people are sick of crime in this country.”
Homan’s confident response stood in stark contrast to Crockett’s criticism, which Homan dismissed as uninformed.
He further dismissed her by stating, “So look, I don’t know who this lady is. Apparently, she’s not real smart. But you can say what you want.”

This was a pointed jab at Crockett’s qualifications on the matter, a sentiment that has sparked further tension between Homan and some members of the Democratic Party.
Crockett, known for her outspoken nature, continued to voice her opinions on Trump, suggesting that the former president lacks understanding on international relations. “I can tell you this guy (Trump) doesn’t know who our friends are. I can tell you he loves to pal around with Putin, and we know that Putin wants to bring back the former coalition they used to have,” Crockett stated. “And that’s why he went into Ukraine.” However, her claims ignore the fact that Putin’s invasion of Ukraine occurred under Joe Biden’s administration, not Trump’s.
Crockett also took aim at the intelligence of President Trump, claiming that someone needs to explain to him “in a very elementary way why we don’t go after our friends, why we don’t start wars.” This remark has drawn criticism, with some questioning Crockett’s own understanding of international relations and history.

Earlier this month, Crockett made headlines for controversial remarks during a House Oversight Committee hearing, where she suggested that the U.S. Census was being manipulated to create more seats for white Republicans, despite the majority of those added being “people of color.” “So they took those black and brown and Asian bodies. And do you think we got a new black, brown, or Asian seat? Somehow, the way they do their Republican math in the state of Texas, that amounted to two new white seats,” Crockett claimed.
Crockett has also been involved in racial controversies, including a viral outburst about “the white man,” in which she stated, “There has been no oppression for the white man in this country. You tell me which white man was dragged out of their homes.”
This statement has been widely criticized for its historical inaccuracies and tone.

In contrast, Homan has consistently emphasized his extensive experience in border enforcement, which includes roles under both the Obama and Trump administrations.
He has remained steadfast in his stance that secure borders save lives, a point he made clear during his response to Crockett’s criticism. “The Democrat policies are killing Americans in record numbers. They’re killing aliens in record numbers. President Trump is going to secure this border and save lives, just not of Americans, but of aliens too,” Homan stated. “A secure border saves lives.”
As tensions continue to rise over immigration and border security, Homan’s rebuttals underscore the sharp contrast in approach between the Trump administration’s plans for handling the crisis and the policies of the Biden-Harris administration.
The battle over border security and the leadership required to address it is far from over, with figures like Homan and Crockett continuing to clash over the most effective path forward.
