JD Vance, the Vice President-elect, paused his busy schedule to embrace a family tradition that warmed hearts and kitchens alike.

Joined by his enthusiastic three-year-old daughter, Mirabel, he demonstrated the timeless art of biscuit-making—a skill passed down from his beloved Mamaw Bland, as reported by The Gateway Pundit.

Taking a moment to share this cherished recipe with the public, Vance opened with a sentiment that resonated with his wholesome, family-first values.

“Biscuit-making is a lost art,” he declared. “Every American family should have a biscuit on their table during Christmas dinner.”

With Mirabel at his side as the “world’s best sous chef,” Vance detailed the process with a mixture of nostalgia and humor. He started with two cups of flour, sharing Mamaw’s secret: frozen butter.

“We have a frozen stick of butter here that I’m actually going to grate with a cheese grater,” he explained, emphasizing that the texture is key. “Two scoops of sugar into the flour,” he continued, while joking about the behind-the-scenes audience of his wife and daughter Ann, who found the scene entertaining.

He meticulously combined the dry ingredients—flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt—before moving on to the butter. “Just break it in a little bit,” he instructed.

As Mirabel enthusiastically joined in, Vance shared his tips for achieving the perfect dough consistency: “You want biscuit dough to just come together. If you over mix it, then your biscuit is going to be tough, and you don’t want that.”

The process of folding and layering the dough showcased Vance’s dedication to detail. “We’re going to cut this and then fold it back on top of itself. And we’re going to do this four times, and that’s what’s going to get our biscuits kind of a layer.”

Before placing them on the baking sheet, he applied an egg wash for a golden finish, demonstrating yet another trick learned from Mamaw.

Mirabel, brimming with excitement, helped paint the biscuits, completing the family’s team effort. With the oven set at 425 degrees, the biscuits baked to perfection, filling the kitchen with a comforting aroma.

Once the biscuits were golden brown, Vance gathered his sons, Ewan and Vivek, for the grand unveiling. He pointed out the difference between the first and second batches, chuckling at the less-polished second round.

Holding a tray of homemade goodness, he beamed with pride as the family prepared to enjoy the fruits of their labor.

With a joyful shout of “Merry Christmas,” the Vance family shared a slice of their festive tradition with the world—a reminder of the importance of family, faith, and the small moments that bring us closer together.
