Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been a constant in Pro Bowl discussions since becoming the team’s starting quarterback in 2018, as reported by Fox News.
However, this season, his streak of Pro Bowl selections has come to an end. Despite leading the Chiefs to an incredible 15-1 record and securing home-field advantage in the playoffs, Mahomes was notably absent from the initial AFC Pro Bowl roster announced on Thursday.
The roster includes MVP front-runners Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills, Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens, and Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals. While Mahomes’ stats this season may not shine as brightly as in years past, his leadership has positioned Kansas City as a favorite for a third consecutive Super Bowl appearance.

While Mahomes missed the cut, several of his teammates earned Pro Bowl honors. Creed Humphrey, Chris Jones, Travis Kelce, Trey Smith, and Joe Thuney all secured spots, showcasing the strength and depth of the Chiefs roster.
Mahomes himself remains among the alternates for the game, joined by Trent McDuffie, Nick Bolton, Carson Steele, George Karlaftis, Matt Araiza, Leo Chenal, and Harrison Butker.
Mahomes’ season has been solid, though not as statistically explosive as his previous campaigns. He has thrown for 3,928 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.
While his 26 touchdown passes are tied for the second-lowest in his career as a starter, his contributions to the team’s success cannot be overstated. As a six-time Pro Bowler, his absence from the roster is a departure from what fans and analysts have come to expect.
The Chiefs will close out the regular season on Sunday against the Denver Broncos, a matchup with playoff implications for Denver. While the Broncos need a win to clinch a postseason spot, Kansas City’s primary focus remains on maintaining their momentum heading into the playoffs.
Mahomes, snubbed or not, continues to prove his worth where it matters most—on the field. The Pro Bowl roster may be without his name this year, but with Kansas City’s sights set on another Lombardi Trophy, Mahomes and the Chiefs have bigger goals ahead.
