A man linked to a Cybertruck explosion outside Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas has been revealed to have served at the same military base as Shamsud Din Jabbar, the individual responsible for the deadly terrorist attack in New Orleans on New Year’s Day.

The 37-year-old suspect from Colorado Springs was the subject of a law enforcement raid on his home late Wednesday night.

The man, who has a military background, served at the same base as Jabbar, the 42-year-old who killed 15 pedestrians in New Orleans by driving an electric vehicle into a crowd.

The revelation has raised questions about potential connections between the two attacks, as law enforcement investigates the links between the suspects.

The explosion outside the Trump International Hotel occurred at 8:40 a.m. Wednesday.

Authorities confirmed that the suspect, who had rented the Tesla Cybertruck in Colorado, drove it across state lines into Las Vegas, where it exploded in the valet area.

The explosion, while deadly for the driver, was largely contained by the vehicle itself, thanks to the sturdy design of the Cybertruck, which limited further damage.

The driver was the only fatality in the incident.

Sheriff Kevin McMahill of Las Vegas confirmed the car arrived in Las Vegas around 7:30 a.m., just an hour before the blast.

He also revealed that the explosion was likely intentional, and that investigators are examining the possibility that the explosion was triggered by a bomb or large fireworks. “Law enforcement currently believes it was most likely intentional,” McMahill said in a press conference.

At the scene of the explosion, investigators found fireworks, gas canisters, and camping fuel in the bed of the truck, which appeared to be part of the materials used to cause the blast.

Authorities are still working to determine the exact method of detonation.

In the wake of the Las Vegas explosion, law enforcement has been exploring connections between the two incidents, as both attacks involved rented electric vehicles.

The car used in the Las Vegas explosion was rented through Turo, the same car-sharing service used by Jabbar in New Orleans.

Both suspects had no known criminal backgrounds prior to the attacks.

A spokesperson for Turo issued a statement expressing the company’s sorrow for the violence in both cities and pledged to cooperate with law enforcement. “We are actively partnering with law enforcement authorities as they investigate both incidents,” the statement said.

“We do not believe that either renter involved in the Las Vegas and New Orleans attacks had a criminal background that would have identified them as a security threat.”

The explosion in Las Vegas comes just hours after the deadly attack in New Orleans, in which Jabbar drove into a crowd celebrating New Year’s Day.

Jabbar, who had an ISIS flag draped on his car, killed 15 pedestrians and injured dozens more.

Authorities discovered improvised explosives at the crash site, though they did not detonate. Jabbar was killed by police after he exited the car and began shooting at bystanders.

While investigators have not found overt connections between the Las Vegas explosion and the New Orleans attack, they are not ruling out any potential links.

The FBI is investigating the possibility that the attacks may be coordinated, especially considering the similarities in the vehicles used.

The explosions have raised concerns about the potential for copycat attacks, prompting an increased law enforcement presence and heightened vigilance in major cities. “With the event that occurred [in New Orleans], and the victims there, and the additional IEDs, so as you can imagine, with an explosion here on our iconic Las Vegas Boulevard, we are taking all of the precautions that we need to take to keep the community safe,” Sheriff McMahill stated.

Despite the tragic nature of the incidents, law enforcement has assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to the community.

The investigation continues, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.

The explosion outside the Trump International Hotel has drawn widespread attention due to the involvement of a Tesla Cybertruck, a vehicle linked to Elon Musk, who has a known relationship with President-elect Donald Trump.

Sheriff McMahill hinted at the possibility that the suspect may have chosen the vehicle intentionally to send a message, though no clear evidence of such a motive has been found.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has cooperated with authorities, providing data from the vehicle and footage from Tesla charging stations to assist the investigation.

Musk clarified that the explosion was not caused by a mechanical issue with the truck itself and expressed his support for law enforcement efforts.

As investigators continue to search for answers, the two attacks have shaken the nation and prompted authorities to consider the possibility of a coordinated terror operation.
