Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., took the stage at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) to denounce antisemitism, a move that coincided with anti-Israel agitators wreaking havoc outside the arena, leading to multiple arrests.

Schumer’s speech, however, wasn’t just about condemning antisemitism—it was another thinly veiled attack on former President Donald Trump, whom Schumer blames for fostering anti-Jewish sentiment in American politics, as reported by Fox News.

“As the highest-ranking Jewish elected official in American history, I want my grandkids—and all grandkids—to never face discrimination because of who they are,” Schumer proclaimed. But while he was preaching to the choir inside, chaos reigned outside as pro-Hamas rioters burned the American flag just a few blocks away from the United Center in Chicago.

Schumer wasted no time aiming his rhetoric at Trump, accusing the former President of being a prime driver of antisemitism in the U.S. “But Donald Trump, this is a guy who peddles antisemitic stereotypes.

He even invited a white supremacist to Mar-a-Lago. But unfortunately, his prejudice goes in all directions: he fuels Islamophobia and issued a Muslim ban as President.

Tonight folks, I am wearing this blue square to stand up against antisemitism, to stand up to all hate,” Schumer said.

He didn’t stop there, taking another swipe at Trump by saying, “Our children, our grandchildren—no matter their race or creed or gender or family—deserve better than Donald Trump’s American carnage.”

Meanwhile, just under two miles from the convention, anti-Israel demonstrators, fueled by far-left ideologies, were busy setting fire to an American flag and chanting “Free Palestine” outside a building housing the Israeli consulate in Chicago.

These protesters weren’t just opposed to U.S. support for Israel; they were pushing a broader progressive agenda.

The situation escalated as officers had to handcuff at least four protesters who tried to breach a police line.

Law enforcement quickly responded by pushing the demonstrators back, restoring order, at least temporarily.

Earlier in the day, Israel supporters, including families of hostages taken by Hamas, had gathered at a pro-Israel art installation nearby, urging U.S. leaders to continue their support for Israel and to pressure for the release of hostages.

Despite the heated demonstrations, attendance at the main rally on Monday fell far short of the organizers’ lofty predictions of 20,000 participants.

As more protests are planned throughout the week, it remains to be seen whether these radical elements will succeed in garnering the attention they crave.
