President-elect Donald Trump issued a full endorsement of Rep. Mike Johnson for the upcoming battle to retain the House speakership, set to take place on January 3.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump called Johnson a “good, hard working, religious man” and emphasized his confidence that Johnson would do the right thing for the American people.
“The American people need IMMEDIATE relief from all of the destructive policies of the last Administration,” Trump wrote. “Speaker Mike Johnson is a good, hard working, religious man. He will do the right thing, and we will continue to WIN. Mike has my Complete & Total Endorsement. MAGA!!!”

Trump’s endorsement comes as the Republican Party faces internal divisions over the speaker’s race.
While Johnson is expected to face a vote on January 3, Fox News projected that anywhere from four to 10 Republicans might oppose him, complicating his path to securing the role.
Despite this challenge, Trump expressed confidence in Johnson’s leadership and urged Republicans to not squander their opportunity.
“We ran a flawless campaign, having spent FAR LESS, with lots of money left over. They ran a very expensive ‘sinking ship,’ embracing DOJ & FBI WEAPONIZATION against their political opponent, ME. BUT IT DIDN’T WORK, IT WAS A DISASTER!!!” Trump wrote, alluding to the 2024 presidential election and his victory over the Biden administration.
He added, “LETS NOT BLOW THIS GREAT OPPORTUNITY WHICH WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN.”
Trump also took a moment to highlight his win in the 2024 election, calling it a “magnificent and historic” victory.
He claimed that he, alongside Vice President-elect JD Vance, flipped seven swing states, securing 317 electoral college votes and the popular vote by millions of voters.
Trump criticized how California took several weeks to certify its results after Election Day, further underscoring his contention that the election had been fraught with delays and irregularities.
The speaker’s race comes after a tumultuous week in Congress, with Republicans grappling over government funding and immigration issues.
Trump had supported a narrow 116-page funding bill, but it was ultimately defeated, and the House passed a spending bill to avert a government shutdown with more Democrat votes (196) than Republican votes (170).
Thirty-four Republicans voted against the measure, highlighting ongoing rifts within the party.
Another division surfaced over immigration, as Trump’s allies, Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk, advocated for H-1B visas to hire foreign specialized workers.
While Trump’s supporters remain divided over the issue, his focus remains on unifying the party under a platform of strong leadership and fiscal responsibility.
Trump’s post on Monday also repeated his allegations about Kamala Harris’ failed presidential campaign, accusing her of spending millions on celebrity endorsements, including payments to figures like Beyoncé and Oprah Winfrey. “Republicans are being praised for having run a ‘legendary’ campaign! Democrats are being excoriated for their effort, having wasted 2.5 Billion Dollars, much of it unaccounted for, with some being used to illegally buy endorsements,” Trump wrote.
He further criticized the Harris campaign for spending $11 million on Beyoncé, who he claimed “never even sang a song,” and $2 million on Oprah for doing “next to nothing.”
Trump also accused the campaign of paying $500,000 to Reverend Al Sharpton, whom he described as a “professional con man and instigator,” in exchange for an interview with Harris and Joe Biden.

In response to these claims, Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, took to Instagram to deny that Beyoncé received $10 million for speaking at the Harris rally. “The lie is that Beyoncé was paid 10 million dollars to speak at a rally in Houston for Vice President Kamala Harris. When In Fact: Beyoncé did not receive a penny for speaking at a Presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris’s Rally in Houston,” Knowles wrote.
Campaign finance records confirmed that the Harris campaign paid Oprah Winfrey’s production company, Harpo Productions, $1 million.

Additionally, after Harris’ defeat, FEC filings showed that the Harris campaign made two $250,000 donations to Sharpton’s nonprofit organization in September and October.
MSNBC later stated that it was “unaware” of the payments to Sharpton’s National Action Network.
