Actress Gal Gadot recently opened up about a life-changing medical emergency she faced earlier this year, revealing that she underwent emergency brain surgery while eight months pregnant with her daughter, Ori.

Known for her portrayal of Wonder Woman in the DC Extended Universe, Gadot shared her experience on social media to raise awareness about the rare condition that nearly cost her life.

The 38-year-old actress explained that in February, while expecting her third child, she began experiencing severe headaches that quickly worsened.

The pain became so intense that it left her bedridden. After undergoing an MRI, doctors discovered a massive blood clot in her brain.

This diagnosis led to an emergency hospital visit and a life-saving surgery that took place within hours.

“This year has been one of profound challenges and deep reflections,” Gadot wrote on X. “In the midst of a difficult year, all I wanted was to hold on and live. We rushed to the hospital, and within hours, I underwent emergency surgery.”

Gadot’s medical emergency was the result of cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT), a rare but serious condition that affects approximately three in 100,000 pregnant women over the age of 30.

While the condition can be fatal if left untreated, Gadot emphasized the importance of awareness and early diagnosis, particularly for women who may be at risk during pregnancy.

After undergoing surgery, Gadot gave birth to her daughter, Ori. The name “Ori,” which means “my light,” holds special significance for the actress, as it symbolizes the hope that sustained her through the difficult ordeal.

In her post, Gadot expressed her gratitude for the skilled medical team at Cedars-Sinai Hospital and the unwavering support of her family, which played a crucial role in her recovery.

“Giving birth is a miracle, a testament to the strength and resilience of our bodies and spirits. But it also demands so much from us, reminding us to care for ourselves as fiercely as we care for others,” Gadot wrote. “As we celebrate Hanukkah, a holiday of light and miracles, I reflect on the personal miracle I was granted.”

Gadot’s experience with CVT has prompted her to use her platform to raise awareness of the condition, hoping that by sharing her story, others will be better informed about its signs and seek help if necessary. “My daughter, Ori, is a constant reminder of resilience, hope, and the strength we carry within,” she added.

Before entering Hollywood, Gadot served two years in the Israel Defense Forces as a combat instructor, an experience that helped shape her disciplined work ethic.

Her Hollywood career took off with a role in Fast & Furious (2009), and she went on to reprise her role in the franchise.
